Marken, vattnet, tankarna: A talk about the research anthology from the Truth Commission for the Sami People
In collaboration with the Sami Association in Stockholm, Amnesty Sápmi, and the Truth Commission for the Sami People, Accelerator hosts a discussion on the impact of Swedish policy on the Sami people and on Sami resistance. The conversation is based on Marken, vattnet, tankarna [the land, the water, the thoughts], a comprehensive research anthology recently presented to the government by the Truth Commission for the Sami People.
The discussion will centre on the research included in the anthology, and looking ahead, it asks: What do we expect this collection of knowledge and the Truth Commission’s work as a whole to lead to? The evening begins with an artist-led tour of Olof Marsja’s exhibition I din röst bor anden till ett språk, which ties in with the anthology and the conversation.
The Truth Commission for the Sami People is a government inquiry established in 2021 in response to the Sami Parliament’s petition. The research anthology is the first of three volumes to be presented in 2026 (the others are a volume of testimonies from the Sami people and a concluding report).
