Artist talk: Tori Wrånes
Artist talk on the opening day of BIG WATER: Norwegian artist Tori Wrånes in a conversation with Therese Kellner, curator at Accelerator.
In Tori Wrånes’ first solo exhibition in Stockholm, the visitor is enveloped by marine worlds where fur-clad creatures move to the rhythm of the ocean. For Accelerator, Wrånes has created BIG WATER, that departs from different places in the world’s oceans: above the surface on the coast of Thailand and under the surface in Norway’s Arctic waters. The two sites are interlaced in a large-scale video and music work.
Tori Wrånes is one of Norway’s most acclaimed artists. She has held solo exhibitions and has been commissioned to create works for art institutions and biennials throughout the world. Wrånes creates surrealistic worlds of hybrid forms and mutations where creatures perform strange rituals. With humour and warmth she expands reality beyond cultural norms and standards.
The artist talk will be held in Accelerator Café. The café is open during the event.
The conversation will be recorded. All Accelerator podcasts can be found at iTunes.
