Art events

“Accelerator carries on the progressive legacy of openness which has been a part of Stockholm University since its beginning.”

Richard Julin, Artistic Director.

Art exhibitions, curated by the artistic director, are central to Accelerator.

Autumn 2016 saw the premier of video art pioneer Tony Oursler’s outdoor showing of the multimedia installations “Influence Machine & Antennae”.

Autumn 2017 the artistic duo Lundahl & Seitl showed two works: “Unknown cloud on its way to Stockholm University” and “An elegy to the medium of film.

Spring 2018 consisted of a film programme with a series of video works shown in Södra huset outside the university library. To come into being” was the overall theme, but also the preparation for creation – for example models or musical scores.

Autumn 2018 Accelerator will show two works by the artist Janine Antoni (b. 1964, Bahamas) on the Stockholm University campus. The artworks, “Moor” (2001) and “Touch” (2002), explore the themes of making contact, coming together and moving forward despite challenges.

Prior to the opening of the physical space in 2019, Accelerator is planning two events per year at different campus locations. The biannual rhythm will continue in the new space.
